Rules: You have to have been there! Show me the most interesting/nicest gas stations you’ve been to. I want to hear why they are so cool, whether it be design, features, service or otherwise.

Green Lake Station, Whistler, BC

A stop on the recent PNW Spring Oppo Drive in BC where Wrong Wheel Drive got some great looking food.

Total custom wood build in one of the prettiest and wealthiest cities in the world and a full service cafe and barista. Features an outdoor patio with a view of the mountains

Bullman’s Garage, Surrey, BC

The site of a ruined garage/gas station was purchased by Petro-Canada a few years ago.

Instead of demolishing the existing building and building a generic gas station, Petro Canada chose to bring the building back to how it looked in the 40's and 50's. Very cool of them and really contributed to the heritage of the neighborhood. Sadly, burned to the ground in a fatal fire, but is being rebuilt.

Supposedly, Texas has a gas station with 120 pumps. Somebody will bring it up

Buc-ee’s Travel Center on I-10 east of Houston. The place is bigger than some of the old department stores. https://www.buc-ees.com/index.php

I usually stop for gas, food (breakfast or lunch), and snacks for the road. They have a little bit of everything in there.

Tom’s Thumb in Scottsdale, Arizona. Pretty good BBQ restaurant a d cafe, but best of all, they sell the high proof stuff at the pump, albeit at a high price.

I know TRBB already linked a Buc-ees, but this one is the Taj Mahal of Bucc-es.

Behold. Buc-ees off of I-10 in Katy, TX.

50,000 sq ft. 100 gas pumps. A 225 foot long car wash, and of course the masive store that Buc-ees is famous for.

You can buy clothing, souvenirs, jerky, homemade fudge, you name it. They have a badass breakfast menu, made to order sanwiches, and a barbeque station.

Buc-ees also has some of the nicest bathrooms I’ve ever had the pleasure of doing my business in.

Yeah, that photo was from a few years ago. It’s in a very high end area, with some supercar dealerships just dow n the street.

But seriously, I- 10 is a major travel corridor, and especially so right outside of H ouston here. I’ve never been here and it not be busy.

At 5:00 this morning I was able to p ark on the front row and didn’t bump into a single person while getting two tacos and a drink. I mean that literally. There were people in there, but I didn’t have to dodge around anyone because it just wasn’t crowded. That was the only time I’ve seen it that empty.

I’m gonna add this one, not because it’s super nice, but it holds a lot of good memories. TTT outside of Tucson, Arizona, was our go to spot for breakfast on early morning trips out into the desert to go shoot guns. Cool art deco vibe and very saucy waitresses.

Smith Bros. Garage in Shrewsbury, Pennsylvania . I love the overall aesthetic . It was a Sunoco gas station and full service garage until recently - they stopped selling gas entirely ( there’s another, much bigger chain gas station across the street ) , but it is still a garage.

That Buc-ees, and particularly it’s bathrooms, are so nice they made it into the fiction thriller podcast Alice Isn’t Dead.

“ Like the gates of heaven unfolding off the Texas highway, Buc-ee’s. The truck stop that other truck stops dream of. They make their own sodas, their own snacks, their own chips and pretzels. The building itself is the size of a small suburb, acres and acres of T-shirts and stuffed animals and a beverage fridge wall spanning into the distance. Billboards from miles before and after announce: “Buc-ee’s has the cleanest bathrooms in America.” I haven’t tried all the bathrooms in America, so I’m going to have to believe them. Every toilet has its own dispenser of hand sanitizer , right in the stall. In case the woman on the go doesn’t wanna  have to pause to wash her hands. American convenience in the ultimate of all convenience stores.”

Do they have to be active duty? Because this faithfully reproduced Mobil station I found in Jarrell, TX is pretty cool.

Also gotta give a mention to Pop s in Arcadia, OK. The design of the gas station is pretty cool on its own, and then there’s the 30 foot neon light soda bottle outside, but the real magic happens when you go inside. Pops stocks over 700 varieties of proper old fashioned glass bottle soda.
